What are your opening hours?
Lucia York opens from 10am everyday for coffee, Italian pastries and cakes.
A La Carte food service is from midday till 10pm.
Lucia lounges and bars open from 12 noon till late.
Where are you located?
York Branch – We are just off Swinegate, through the large alleyway, opposite the Mulberry Bag Department store – (Grape lane) Swine gate East court. YO1 8AJ (13)
How long will we have our table for?
During busy periods your table will be booked for 1 hour 30 minutes for parties of up to 2; 1 hour 45 minutes for parties of up to 4; and 2 hours for parties of 5+. However, during quieter times this may be able to be extended.
What happens if I am running late?
Please try to arrive as close to your designated booking time as possible. We operate a 15-minute grace period. Please call us if you are running late. Unfortunately, in the event you do not contact us and arrive more than 15 minutes late we may assign your table to another party.
Is smoking and vaping permitted at your outside tables?
Lucia is a non smoking restaurant. Please ask a member of the team for designated smoking areas.
Do you have a dress code?
Guests are asked to dress for the occasion. We operate a smart casual dress code. Fashion Trainers are acceptable, however sports trainers and sportswear including tracksuits are not permitted. Flip flops and sliders are not permitted.
It’s my Birthday, what can you do for me?
Well, Happy Birthday! We’re delighted that you’ve chosen Lucia to celebrate. Please add a note when booking or speak to one of our teams and we’ll arrange a Birthday surprise.
Is there a service charge?
An optional 10% service charge will be added to your bill. All gratuities go to the team.
How can I buy a Gift Voucher?
You can purchase a voucher from any of our restaurants. Alternatively, apply online following the simple steps via our Gift Voucher page.
Where can I find allergen information?
All allergen information is available to view on our menu section or in any of our Restaurants, please just ask!
I have purchased a voucher and not received it. What should I do?
Please give us a call or contact us online – we keep proof of postage for all of our vouchers and will try our best to solve this issue the best we can.
Do you accept American Express?
Unfortunately we don’t, we do however accept all other major credit and debit cards.
Can I book a table for more than 12 people on a Saturday?
Unfortunately, we do not take bookings for parties larger than 12 on Saturdays. For larger group bookings on other days, please contact us, we’ll be happy to help arrange something special.
Do you cater for hen or stag parties?
Yes, we can accommodate a range of private events, including hen and stag parties. From seated dining to canapé and drinks receptions, our York restaurant offer dedicated private areas suitable for a wide variety of occasions.
Are you dog friendly?
While we adore our four-legged friends, dogs are not permitted inside the restaurant. However, well-behaved dogs are welcome in our outdoor dining areas at our York location.
Are children allowed?
Yes, children are welcome when accompanied by an adult. Please note that the last booking for parties including children under the age of 10 is at 4:45pm, and children are welcome in the restaurant until 6pm.
Do you have outdoor seating?
Yes, our York location offer covered, heated outdoor terraces that are open year-round. Outdoor seating is very popular, so please request this when booking and we’ll do our best to accommodate your preference.
Do I need to make a reservation for a large group?
We recommend making a reservation in advance for larger groups to ensure availability and the best possible experience. Please contact us directly to discuss group bookings.
Can I bring my own cake?
Yes, you are welcome to bring your own cake for special occasions. Please let us know in advance so we can make arrangements accordingly.
Do you have car parking?
While we don’t have our own car park, there are plenty of parking options nearby:

Monk Bar Car Park and Bootham Row Car Park are the most convenient options for Lucia York.
Are walk-ins allowed? Can I just have a drink?
Yes, walk-ins are welcome, and you are more than welcome to join us for drinks. Availability for both food and drink is subject to space at the time of your visit.
Can I cancel or modify my booking?
Yes, you can cancel or amend your booking. We kindly ask that you provide as much notice as possible. Please refer to your confirmation email or contact us directly for any changes.
Do you serve cocktails?
Absolutely! We offer a full cocktail menu featuring both Italian classics and house specials.
Is the restaurant wheelchair friendly?
Yes, our restaurant is wheelchair accessible. If you have specific accessibility requirements, please mention this when booking so we can ensure your comfort.
Do you have a private dining area?
Yes, we have private dining areas available at our York restaurant. Please get in touch for more details or to make a private booking.
Do you host cocktail-making classes or tastings?
Yes, we do offer cocktail-making classes and tastings for groups of 4 to 12 people. These sessions are available before 5pm on Saturdays and are priced at £35 per person.
Do you cater for dietary requirements?
Yes, we cater for a wide range of dietary requirements, including vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options. Please inform your server of any allergies or dietary needs when ordering.
